OUR STORY

Immanuel Church of Vero Beach, FL got its start in 1984, and held it’s first worship service on Mother’s Day 1985. The journey from the initial prayer meetings in 1984 to the first worship service in 1985 set the stage for what would be the story of a people that would understand that the church is not about a building.

Here is a synopsis of that journey:

1984—Five men began meeting and praying in the office of the morgue of Indian River Hospital

1985 A group of people began to meet and pray and plan around the swimming pool at the home of a family wanting to help start the church

May 12, 1985 The group held its first worship service in a building that would within months
become the current location of the Vero Beach Theatre Guild

1986-1995 The church met  in rented facilities–  There would be 11 different locations of the church over the next 10 years, including schools, civic buildings and empty retail space.

1996 The church purchased and rent temporary modular buildings and place them on a 20 acre campus located on 58th Avenue SW– These buildings are still in use today.

In 1991 the church started construction on a permanent facility; however contractor problems, legal issues, internal struggles and the economy would make this journey difficult and often discouraging. But the people have persevered and refused to let trials stop them from what God has called them to do and be.

In 1999 the church chose Roger Ball to lead them as Pastor. Roger had been a
member of the church since its beginning and had served the church as Youth Pastor for 8 years. Under his leadership Roger set a course of “people before buildings.” With the theme- “A Community of Changed Lives”
- Immanuel Church presses on...

CHANGED CHILDREN

In so many places today our children are told to sit down and be quiet. We believe in our children and we ask them to stand up and be counted through ministries like AWANA Clubs and Kids Church. We have seen the power of the faith of a child in changing their own families and impacting the hearts of many.

CHANGED TEENS

Immanuel Church has developed a powerful and life changing approach to reaching and changing a generation. We understand the battles they face, the impact of media and culture on their lives and we seek to give them real answers that relate to who they are and relevant to where they live.

CHANGED FAMILIES

If the Leave it to Beaver and Father Knows Best families ever existed, they certainly do not today. Nothing wraps up in a nice neat package in 30 minutes including commercial breaks. When a church takes on the call of reaching and restoring families, it is hard work, but we also know it is the key to a changed community. Unless the family unit is healthy culture and society will continue to suffer.

A CHANGED COMMUNITY

At Immanuel we realize that bringing true change to a community cannot be done by one church alone. That is why we partner with so many other churches, community organizations, government agencies, and frankly anyone who has boots on the ground in helping others

CHANGE  THROUGH  RECOVERY

One of the largest factors that is ripping our community apart are the many lives and families torn apart by addictions. Immanuel is a member of Celebrate Recovery, a world-wide partnership that offers a Biblical 12 Step Program for addictions from substance abuse, over-eating, sexual addictions  to co-dependency. Additionally Immanuel has developed FREEDOM JOURNEY which is now recognized by the court system of Indian River County as an alternative to  traditional in-house recovery  programs.

CHANGING OUR WORLD

In addition to supporting the ministries mentioned above, Immanuel Church joins many others in reaching and impacting the world. It is why over 15% of the income given by Immanuel’s faithful member’s is given away to help other’s in a quest to see lives changed. Not only does Immanuel send its money, but where we can, we send our people, connecting them to other people, whether that’s across the street or around the world.

A CHURCH THAT STILL AWAITS A PERMANENT BUILDING

...has over the last seven years helped to construct, finance and complete 8 church building projects in seven different parts of Brazil. In addition to the buildings, Immanuel Church helped to start and continues to help fund Communidade de Cristo Paz, (Community of Christ’s Peace)  a church and outreach center in Nova Lima, Brazil. This is our bold commitment to seeing our world changed.

NOW YOU CAN...JOIN  THE  CHANGE!

We invite you to be a part of the change that is taking place in and through the people of  Immanuel Church as we seek to now finish this 19 year building project to house our current and future ministries for our community and the world.

WE NEED TO RAISE $140,000 IMMEDIATELY

We have already invested in excess of one million dollars of our own funds, and the North American Mission Board has partnered with us with another $600,000. The project stands 95% complete at this point. This leaves around $140,000 we need immediately and we are asking for your prayers and help.

On the reverse you will find the names of just some of the people you may feel free to contact as reference of our ministry and our commitment.

If you have questions regarding specifics of Immanuel Church and the project, we would be honored to come and meet with you and answer any questions you may have or to give you a tour of the construction project.
